Fernando Raguero vs. The World
This is an open mic where you get to match wits with the legendary Fernando Raguero. After each open mic poet, Fernando will read a poem in response to what he has heard – and hilarity will ensue.
Fernando Raguero has been on four Vancouver Poetry Slam teams. He is the 2009 Haiku Deathmatch champion and the 2011 Erotica Slam champion. He has published six chapbooks. His latest one is called “Why are the Pages Sticky?” He is working on a new book called “Crack Pipe on the Credenza”.
Fernando spares no expense in his being direct with his poetry’s audience. He has the ability to amuse while offending, educate while mocking, and move you while making you gasp. His deadpan verbiage is akin to that of Bukowski’s, as is his use of the everyday happenstances in life for creating his art. He connects with all people on one level or another no matter how offended they may feign being. Raguero has graced stages across North America, sold thousands of his chapbooks to eager poetry lovers, and ventured out on to the limb of verse-battling veracity with the Vancouver Slam team. He is a local and national favorite fella amongst the teeming crowds of lovers, muffin farters, losers, and mirth-makers.
